Taban FC 92/93 Winter Indoor Tournament

We ended up in third place out of the five teams. A good performance against strong opponents.

Buda Juniors won the tournament! This is the first time we have won a serious tournament against Hungarian youth teams, so we are all very proud. Some of the teams play in the top youth league, so this is a sign of our progress. All the parents and players enjoyed this afternoon a great deal and watched some very exciting games. Well done, guys!

FC Zrinyi Memorial Tournament
Sunday 5th March 2006

1992/3 team	vs Szent Pal	drew 0-0

All the possesion but no goals. Never under threat at the back thanks to Kai and a commanding Jacques. Some good work fom Oliver just failed to produce the vital pass or shot but all in all a solid start.
	vs Ujpesti Haladas	lost 0-1

Again dominated the entire game but could find no goalscoring touch. Conceded a silly goal as they broke away to slip a trough ball between Kai and Andras for the striker to toe poke into the corner past an otherwise comfortable Jacques. Pressed right to the end and Oliver won a deserved, if dubious penalty but with the last kick of the game he fired straight at the goalkeeper and the game was over!
	vs AC Zrinyi	won 2-0

Finally the goals came and could have been a few more. Matthew found Oliver with his back to goal but a deft flick over the defender sent him clear to finish through the goalkeepers legs. The second arrived shorly after as Oliver's driven cross was steered home brilliantly by Krisztian's left foot. Ferdie was excellent on the right and Jacques again solid between the sticks.
	vs Taban	lost 0-4

Well beaten by the best team in the tournament but sloppy errors left a bad taste in the mouth. First goal came from a corner and second from our own throw in! 3 down after 5 mins, but battled very well right to the end. Kaj's free kick was just over and Andras was superb when asked to play on his own at the back, but the 4th goal was unfortunate as Jacques blemished his copybook right at the end by spilling a long shot into the net.

Overall we came 4th, although we deserved better. Kaj and Oliver led the group very well and Jacques was rewarded for his performances with the "Goalkeeper of the Tournament" Award. Well done Jacques! :)

FC Zrinyi Memorial Tournament

Adam
Great start with excellent passing from Titouan,Max and Soma but as soon as we conceded heads dropped and a second went in before we woke up again. Adam finshed beautifully with his left foot to pull one back and just as it looked like we were going to get a draw, a long shot squeezed in and time was up. Miika and Max were very good.
	vs Ujpesti Haladas	won 1-0
Soma
Nothing in it during first minutes. Went ahead through Soma blasting home after his first shot had been saved. From then on defended brilliantly with great blocks from Alec and Miika and good stops by Jonathon. Even when Jonathon was beaten Miika blocked on the line but the referee awarded a penalty for handball. Jonathon was up to the challenge and saved well low to his right as we clung on to victory.
	vs AC Zrinyi	lost 1-2
Soma
By far the better side but lapses in concentration cost us dearly. Down a goal before we woke up, but started to play better as the game went on. Titouan headed the ball on for Soma to chase and his cracking volley flew in at the near post. Dominated after but efforts from Menno and Soma were saved before Max drove just wide after great build-up play. Caught cold at the back again as a long ball over the top left two men free. Jonathon got his hand to the pass but it fell kindly for their striker to tap home.
	vs II Kerulet	lost 0-4

Completely outplayed for most of the game. Sloppy goals conceded from a corner and 2 long shots. Jonathon saved two out of three 1-on-1s, and only he and Max can be proud of how they played. Serious lack of fight or leadersip from the older boys. A very disappointing end to the day.

Finishing in 4th place was about right. Overall Max was our best player on the day - always trying to play football and playing very intelligently!

Barkor Kupa, Dorog

The results say it all, ending up sixth out of six teams. Disappointing performances against teams who we could have beaten. No team on the pitch, as the players just weren't in the mood. We hope to forget this Saturday very soon...

Buda Juniors won another tournament! This was the first serious tournament for most of our boys in this age group, but they won every game and finished top. It was a very well-balanced tournament, in which our boys' attitude towards the game made the difference. All of our players' performance was outstanding, really working together as a team lead by Ralph, Till and Thibaud. Till scored 7 goals!

The first match saw a slightly unfair scoreline for our boys against an excellent Corvinus team who won the tournament easily on the day. Three down in a couple of
minutes before Jan gave us hope with a close-range right-footed effort. Corvinus added two more before half-time and the second half was very tough as heads dropped and players tired as we conceded five without reply.

A great reponse against Nyergesújfalu after the first match, with Adam and Tom F outstanding on the wings and Till and Ralph solid in defence. Jan opened the scoring before we were caught out in possession close to our own goal and punished with the equaliser. The second half was end to end stuff as Jan, Tom F and Max pushed forward and at the other end we were saved by a combination of post, then crossbar and then Glenn, before Till smashed a great shot in from the right side. Allmost immediately Jan doubled the advantage and Yuta, Tom Van O and Gergõ all finished the game strongly to hold on to the win.

A baffling result against the Szent Pál girls as Buda Juniors were camped in the opposition goalmouth for nearly the entire match! Fell asleep from a throw-in early on to go one down and as Szent Pál sat back, we showed our lack of match practice as a team, trying to go through rather than around the orange wall. One goal and the floodgates would have surely opened but instead a long clearance took a wicked bounce over Glenn and into the net and incredibly we were two down. Jan eventually gave us hope with a long-range strike after a geat dribble by Max but it was too little too late as the final whistle went moments later. A much more disappointing result than the first match hammering, but again we learned some lessons for the next game.

The fifth/sixth place play-off saw a fantastic performance to finish the day on a high note. Ralph and Adam commanding at the back and Tom F running the midfield gave us a great base to play from. Till grabbed the first two goals before Jan added a third. Yuta scored the goal of the match with a great dribble and finish off the post for a four-goal cushion at the break. There was no let up in the second half, with Mans, Alexander, Thibaud and Tom Van O in the game. Gergõ then rattled the post and crossbar within 10 seconds but it took Jan two quickfire goals to give the scoreline a fair reflection and himself a hat-trick in a great performance all round.

All in all a good day and hopefully the next time these boys play together they will be more of a team and have learned some valuable lessons. Special praise for Jan of course with his seven goals, but also for Tom F, our most consistent performer on the day with action-packed displays and great battling from start to finish. Well done Tom and all of the boys.

Nyergesújfalu's 60th Birthday Tournament

With some of our best players missing, we could only play 8-a-side matches and lost all three. First, we gifted the home team a nice birthday present, thanks to an own goal and 3 other goals from stupid mistakes, yet we played well. We should have beaten Szent Pál, especially as we were 2-0 up, but mistake after mistake set us back. Then in our last game our tired players put in an acceptable performance, but came up short.
