At the end of the day it was decided to hold another match which would involve all players from both the 'A' and 'B' teams. The final score was 6-0 for Buda Juniors. The 'A' team played the first half and scored 3 goals, with the 'B' team playing the second half and also scoring 3 goals.

We were very pleased with the performances of all of our players, both those who had already played some matches for Buda Juniors and also those who played for the first time. They learned well and really did go for it. It was good to see that all the 24 kids were supporting each other - they were a real team!

Pilisszentiván Tournament - Group 4
Thursday 15th March 2007

vs Solymár
lost 0-2
Most of our players were still asleep at the start and Solymar were winning the game before our team woke up. The Solymár players were bigger than our players, and we could see on the faces of some of our players that they were afraid...
  vs Piliscsaba
won 7-0
Hugo, Simon (2), Jan (4)
In the first 5 minutes it looked like we would have difficulties, but our players started playing how they normally can and turned the game around... in style!
vs Pilisvörösvár
won 2-1
Alex (2)
Very strong opponents, but we played a good game and controlled the whole match.
vs Pilisszentiván
won 1-0
Alex
Pilisszentiván knew us as we had already played them before. We had many chances to score, but only managed to win the match at the very end of the game, which meant that...

Buda Juniors won the tournament! Next year we'll be back to defend it!

Pilisszentiván Tournament - Group 6
Thursday 15th March 2007

vs Solymár
drew 0-0
An equally fought match, but we had more chances to score.
  vs Piliscsaba
won 1-0
Oliver
A difficult match, with chances in front of both goals. We were the ones who managed to score and with strong defence we kept a clean sheet.
vs Pilisvörösvár
lost 1-2
Oliver
Vörösvár ended up winning the tournament, but we had the chance to stop them. With a little bit better concentration we could have won this match (and with it, the tournament).
vs Pilisszentiván
won 2-1
Oliver (2)
Oliver had a very good tournament and scored two very nice goals in this match. All of our players worked hard to win this match.

We ended up second in the tournament which is a good result.

FC Zrinyi Memorial Tournament
Sunday 4th March 2007

The 1994 age group played in the FC Zrinyi Memorial Tournament for the second year in a row with a similar outcome to last time. The standard was much higher among the opposition and considering it was the first time some 1995s had played with the older boys, we gave a reasonable account of ourselves without getting the results we perhaps deserved.

vs FC Zrinyi
lost 0-3
Match 1 pitted us against the hosts and by far the strongest team in the tournament. Although we were very slow to get started, we were never in much danger, with debutant Peter looking comfortable between the sticks. A dull game took a turn for the worst when we fell behind with 12 minutes of a straight 20 period played. An innocuous free kick was drilled under Max, who jumped in the wall, through a forest of legs, including Peter's, and into the net! Within a minute it was two as an swift counter-attack left Titouan exposed and although Peter saved the initial strike, the ball fell perfectly for the striker to tap in from three yards. In the last minute Antoine was penalised for a perfectly good tackle and the resultant penalty left the score 3-0, marking a very poor start to the day.
  vs Szent Pál AFC
lost 1-2
Antoine
Our second game started terribly as Jonathon tried to dribble out from the back and was robbed of the ball, leaving their striker to finish well to put us one down in a matter of seconds. From then on it was all Buda Juniors as Soma led the way with an excellent performance. Both he, Antoine and Tim tested the goalkeeper with good efforts before a Titouan throw-in was headed home bravely by Antoine for the equaliser. Further efforts from Soma and Max came close to finding the net as we laid siege to the goal. The game was decided in a crazy passage of play where Tim's neat turn and shot from Titouan's pass was parried to Max, who drilled the ball against the grounded keeper. It dropped nicely for the onrushing Tim, whose goalbound shot was somehow deflected away by a defender on the line! Immediately a long ball over Miika's head led to a mix-up as the Szent Pál striker nipped in between defender and a stranded Peter to lift the ball into the empty net and hand us a very harsh lesson in football. Not taking our chances and being unlucky is one view, but two glaring mistakes is what cost us dear.
vs Ujpest Haladas B
drew 2-2
Max, Tim
After two defeats the boys were fired up against Ujpest Haladas B and took the lead from the off. Tim's intelligent run left Antoine to time his pass perfectly into Max's path who made no mistake with his left foot, firing low into the corner. Soma, Antoine and Tim again tested the goalkeeper, but we were undone again by sloppy defending from a free kick. Titouan left his man unmarked and although Peter saved well the ball was put away before Tim could get a block in. A cool head was required as Tim was put through by Antoine, but the keeper saved when a pass would have left Max an open goal. Tim made up for it seconds later, however, by following in a long throw and scrambling the ball over the line. A touch of Old Trafford stoppage time allowed Ujpest to snatch an equaliser at the death as a free header was again saved by Peter, but for the third time the rebound was put away. More lessons learned about playing to the final whistle and also about keeping possession instead of just clearing the ball when in front in a game.
vs Ujpest Haladas A
drew 2-2
Soma, Antoine
Against Ujpest Haladas A we started well again with Soma grabbing a deserved goal. Collecting a clever flick from Max on the left he smashed a shot across the keeper and into the top corner for what was surely the goal of the day. Again we dominated but not for the first time the referee seemed slightly biased in not doing us any favours, firstly as Soma was brought down going round their keeper and moments later a blatent push on Antoine in the box went unnoticed. One up and cruising became one down within a couple of minutes as we neglected our defensive duties and were punished twice on the break with Peter left exposed. Credit to the boys for fighting back and deservedly grabbing a draw when Soma's powerful free-kick was parried by the keeper and Antoine was on hand to squeeze the ball home from a narrow angle.

So two defeats followed by two draws wasn't a great return but although some might say we deserved more, I think the boys learned that you make your own luck in football. Silly mistakes can throw away all the good work and effort already made and that was certainly a lesson well learned today.

vs Szent Pál AFC
won 1-0
Fülöp
Most of our players were playing their very first match. Everybody was very enthusiastic and played a very good first match. Fülöp's goal at the very end put a smile on everybody's face.
  vs Tát SE
drew 1-1
own goal
We were ahead for most of the game, but at the very end a little misunderstanding in defence cost us a goal.
vs Szent Pál AFC girls born in 1997
won 3-1
Fülöp (3)
A very important win, as the girls gave a hard time to the other teams. Fülöp was again on top form and scored a hat-trick. His first goal made little Max very happy as it was him who gave the assist. Good performance at the back, led by Sascha.
vs Szent Pál AFC
won 3-2
Erik (2), Fülöp
Both teams played very well and were head to head until the very end. Erik's two goals and one assist made the difference.
vs Tát SE
won 1-0
Fülöp
We needed our defence this time. Tát pushed hard, but Sascha and Viktor in goal stopped them. A nice pass from Bruno found Fülöp in a good position and he just couldn't miss today.
vs Szent Pál AFC girls born in 1997
won 3-0
Fülöp (2), Erik
By the time this match came around, all of our players had learned how to play together and we could see that they were having lots of fun.

We had a very good overall performance from all of our players.

vs Szent Pál AFC
lost 0-3
I was surprised how nervous and sleepy our players were. We missed about four chances, but our teamplay just wasn't good enough. There was no reason to be scared, but especially in defense they were.
  vs Tát SE
drew 1-1
Bernardo
Sam M played in defense this time and showed us that we can count on him. Of course, Fabrizio and Kevin played a much better game. Till, Bernardo and Sam V in midfield helped Simon up front. Our team played better than the first game, but still managed to give a goal away.
vs Esztergom SC
won 3-2
Bernardo, Simon, Till
This game showed how our team can play. Good team play, but still small problems in defense.
vs Szent Pál AFC
lost 1-5
Sam V
No logical explanation...
vs Esztergom SC
won 2-1
Simon (2)
We made some changes in defense, with Jelle moving to defence alongside Sam M, with Kevin taking over in goal. A good match, in which we finally talked to each other and played together as a team.
vs Tát SE
won 2-1
Simon, Till
We wish that all of the matches were like this one. Not the result so much, but how the players performed.
