Group matches vs Tát SE
won 4-2
Anton, Till, A Hurley (2)
With the Winter Cup title already secured our boys were attempting to finish as champions of each matchday. Although they looked a little sleepy at the start their quality showed through to make them convincing winners in this match. A defensive error allowed the Tát striker to nip in behind Barna and loop a header over Thorben and in. However, within a minute we were level with the first of four excellent goals. A Hurley won the ball in midfield and spread it to Till on the right. He fed Anton, who took a touch with his right and finished calmly past the keeper with his left foot. Till then volleyed his first of the day after A Hingl had spotted him free from a throw-in. Thorben kept us in front, standing up well in a 1 on 1, before A Hurley volleyed just wide at the other end. Soon after, Barna's chip over the top found Till, whose first touch was sublime before rolling the ball across for a simple tap in from A Hurley.

A Hurley extended the lead shortly after half-time, playing a fantastic cross field one-two with Kostya before slotting home past the keeper. Kostya, A Hingl, Till and Christian all came close to extending the lead before Tát put on some late pressure, forcing Thorben to push one shot onto the post and eventually finding the net from close range to leave the final score 4-2.
  vs Esztergom SC
won 4-2
Till (2), A Hingl, Kostya
Again a very sleepy start left us under pressure and at half-time 2-1 down was a good scoreline! Only the referee's whistle prevented a goal in the first two minutes, as the Esztergom striker's foot was adjudged too high going in on Thorben. Soon after, a lack of pressure on the ball allowed the same player to cut inside and shoot low into the near corner. Out of nothing we were level as Thorben's goal-kick took a deflection off a defender and Till made no mistake with a beautifully taken side-foot volley. An unfortunate own goal by the backtracking Jordan left us 2-1 down at the break as he attempted to intercept a through ball, only to wrong foot Thorben and send the ball rolling into the corner!

Till stepped up to level matters after the restart with another wonderful volley from close to the half-way line finding the far top corner! He then sent a free kick curling off the post before our pressure finally gave us the lead. A spot of ping pong in the box from Christian's corner was eventually pounced on as A Hingl bravely headed the loose ball into the roof of the net. Christian and Jordan made inportant interceptions and Thorben made one fine save with his legs before Till popped up on the left and sent a perfect overhead kick across for Kostya to volley home and secure the win.
Semi-final vs Pilisvörösvár L. SE
won 4-2
A Hurley (2), Till (2)
Another tough game and another 4-2 scoreline! Till and A Hurley led the way with the goals but overall this was the poorest team display so far, defensively making silly errors and lacking concentration all day which would hurt us later on...

Till's early freekick gave warning of what was to come as only a great save touched the ball over the bar. Till then set up A Hurley for the opener, beating three men with a mazy dribble, and the left-foot finish was excellent. Thorben's only error of the day resulted in an equaliser as he failed to gather a long throw, pushing the ball out for an easy close-range finish.

After half-time Till found A Hurley's head from a throw and the finish again left the keeper no chance, with the ball finding the top corner. A Hurley then returned the favour, rolling the ball sideways to Till, who steadied himself before driving the ball low across the keeper and in from long range. A close-range free-kick driven past our wall and in made the nerves jangle a little towards the end, but Till again stepped up when needed and bent a stunning free-kick into the top corner from close to the half-way line to secure victory!
Final vs II.ker UFC
lost 1-2
Till
A result that had been coming all day and a dissappointing way to finish the tournament. The basics af defending were missing all day as conceding eight goals in four games will testify and this time we couldn't quite manage to score enough ourselves to make up for the errors. A free header from a throw-in put us one down early on in a cagey game of few chances. Till popped up with maybe his finest of six goals on the day, hitting a ball dropping over his shoulder on the volley with the outside of his boot, sending it swerving in off the far post from way out! It was his fourth volleyed goal of the day, all very different in terms of tecnique but all perfectly executed. Anton headed just over the angle with the last effort of the half, leaving the scores tied.

The second half was even tighter, with Buda Juniors piling forward but struggling to find a clear chance past the green defence, being marshalled superbly by George. And just as penalties seemed the only way to separate the sides a quick counter attack left Barna exposed with two men over on the left and Thorben could do nothing to stop the shot hitting the back of the net with the very last kick of the match!

Buda Juniors came second
A harsh way to finish the day but maybe a lesson learned that you can't take anything for granted in football and the team who wanted it the most definitely won in the end. Overall three matchday victories and a runners-up spot showed everybody the boys were worthy winners of the Winter Cup, with just two defeats in
sixteen games being an excellent record to achieve.

Well done to all 14 boys who represented the club over the four days... you deserve your gold medals and
hopefully it will be something the other age groups can achieve in the future:)

Group matches vs AS Római
drew 0-0
A good start to the last match day for this age group. We were closest to winning this game, but unfortunately we missed some good chances.
  vs Esztergom SC
won 7-1
Simon (2), Sebastian (2), Sam, Lars, Fabrizio
A very good match even though Esztergom's team wasn't complete. All of our players played well and we scored some very nice goals. This match won the group for us, as AS Római only beat Esztergom by 2 goals.
Semi-final vs Pilisvörösvár L. SE
lost 2-5
Simon (2)
A good first half kept us head to head with the best team of the series. With a little bit more concentration we could have won the game. We missed four chances and made some annoying mistakes in defence.
3rd/4th Play-off vs Szent Pál AFC
drew 3-3, lost 0-2 on penalties
We copied the match against Pilisvörösvár. A good game overall, but again we missed chances and gave goals away.

Group matches vs Pilisvörösvár L. SE
drew 1-1
Alexander
A difficult match against a good team. Our players worked hard for a good result which came from Alexander's excellent penalty.
  vs Szent Pál AFC
drew 2-2
Alexander (2)
Strong performance against this tournament's second-best team. With a little bit of luck we could have won this one.
Semi-final vs Tát SE
drew 0-0 (lost 0-1 on penalties)
Missed chances in both halves. The exciting game ended up as a draw, so we came to a penalty shootout, which we unfortunately lost 0-1.
3rd/4th Play-off vs Szent Pál AFC
drew 3-3 (lost 2-3 on penalties)
A draw again, but we were closest to winning this game too. With a little bit more concentration we would have scored at least twice. Lost on penalties again so we ended up 4th on this matchday and 4th overall, while Spartacus did just enough to top the overall table on goal difference!

Group matches vs Esztergom SC
won 2-1
Bernardo, Sebastian
A good start to the day, with Bernardo leading the team. All of our players worked hard and turned the game around after Esztergom scored the first goal.
  vs Tát SE
lost 0-4
After the first match all of us had the confidence to think that our 1996 team could continue playing as well as against Esztergom. Unfortunately we missed a few chances and collapsed in the second half, yet we still qualified for the semis.
Semi-final vs Szent Pál AFC
lost 1-4
Simon
The game was already over for us in the first half, as our team could not score and made lots of mistakes in defence.
3rd/4th Play-off vs Tát SE
lost 1-4
Sam
Tát again. Simon missed two chances and within two minutes Tat were 3-0 up. No chance in the second half...
Buda Juniors came fourth
This group of players are good footballers individually, but it was more obvious than ever that they need to train and play together as a team as often as possible.

Group matches vs Tabáni Spartacus
won 3-1
Bence, Joshua (2)
A great match to start the day, confidently winning with all of our players focusing and playing very well.
  vs Pilisvörösvár L. SE
lost 1-5
Bence
Pilisvörösvár is one of the best teams in this tournament and were leading the competition before the last match day. Our team is not on the level of competing 100% against this team, but our players still played a brave and tough match. We finished second in the group as Pilisvörösvár won against Taban.
Semi-final vs Esztergom SC
lost 1-2
Joshua
The best game for us in this competition. Our players played well, worked hard and were very close to turning around the match. Bence's shot hit the post in the second half and there were some more chances for us to win the match. Great performance against the eventual winners of this competition.
3rd/4th Play-off vs Pilisvörösvár L. SE
lost 0-4
Our last match in this competition. A good first half, but in the second our team was too tired to stop Pilisvörösvár scoring. An unlucky own goal from Charlie made it 4-0. Can't complain, though - our boys did play well.
Buda Juniors came fourth
We finished this matchday and the whole competition in 4th. Our players did very well throughout the series and showed that they are able to compete in the future. More importantly they became a team and performed better and better in each tournament. Compared to the first match day there is an obvious improvement and they can add this experience to their game...

Group matches vs Esztergom SC
won 6-1
Alexander Hurley, Till (2), Simon (2), Alex Hingl
A comprehensive victory to start the day with the boys controlling possession from the off and taking their chances very well. A. Hurley got the first after only 30 seconds, playing Till in on the left and continuing his run into the middle for a tap-in from Till's perfectly timed return pass. From the restart it was Till who won the ball and smashed a shot past the keeper from long range. His next effort was saved after good work from Christian, but Simon was on hand to finish from close in. A. Hingl shot over right-footed from Simon's pull-back to leave the score 3-0 at half-time. He made no mistake moments later on his favoured left foot, however, smashing a volley over the hapless keeper and just under the crossbar. Good pressure from the same player led to a defensive mistake which Till punished with a calmly taken right-foot volley to make it 5. Simon grabbed his second shortly after with good work from Kostya in the build-up, and although we conceded through a freak late goal as a clearance rebounded off an Esztergom face and looped over Thorben and in, it was a great start with much more to come.
  vs   Pilisszentiván SE
won 3-0
Alexander Hurley, Christian, Simon
A solid performance in defence and a little bit of magic in the second half made it two wins out of two. A. Hurley opened the scoring again, this time getting on the end of Anton's header across goal to volley in side-footed. Barna and Thorben were working hard to keep us ahead and at the other end we were limited to half chances from corners and throw-ins. After half-time A. Hingl had a good shot saved before Anton again provided the magic to unlock the defence. First he received Christian's through ball and took it at the advancing keeper before rolling a return pass sideways for Christian to walk the ball over the line. Seconds later he repeated the trick, this time turning the last defender with a clever flick and again keeping cool, taking the keeper out of the game with a perfectly timed ball to Simon, who tapped into the empty net. A good performance at the back and a brilliant three assists and man-of-the-match display from Anton.
Semi-final vs Pilisvörösvár L. SE
won 5-3
Anton (2), Christian, Till (2)
The boys continued where they left off in the previous match, scoring two early goals - Anton finishing after A. Hurleys dribble forward and Christian evoking memories (at least for the parents!!) of Carlos Alberto's 1970 World Cup Final strike, receiving Pele's (Till's!!) perfect lay-off and smashing the ball across the keeper into the far corner! Unfortunately the boys fell asleep a little for the only time all day and were pegged back by the dangerous whites striker as he first rounded Thorben and finished and then hit a rocket long-range volley into the net to leave the score 2-2 at half time.

Anton put us back ahead with a great turn and finish into the far corner and Till then scored two fine individual goals to make the game safe. His first, from Barna's long free-kick, found the near corner after turning his marker while the second began by beating his man at the edge of his own box and dribbling the length of the pitch before firing low across the keeper and in. Although the opposition's danger man bagged his hat-trick with another scorching volley, the boys held on comfortably for a 5-3 victory.

Final vs Tát SE
won 6-1
Till (2), Alexander Hurley (3), Christian
An easy victory against a weakened Tát side in the final made it maximum points from the three matchdays. Till set his sights early with a free-kick off the post before finding his range with two cracking strikes which flew into the net. He then turned provider for A. Hurley to smash home. The same player then added his second, turning in Anton's corner to leave the score 4-0 at half time. The second half was played almost as a training session, with the boys' motivation draining a little. A Hurley grabbed his hat-trick from A. Hingl's corner and Christian added a 6th with a fine volley, before Tát grabbed a consolation as Christian's back pass was a little short and Thorben's attempted clearance was charged down and the ball rolled back into the empty net.
Buda Juniors won the tournament!
Again a great day's football, with Barna outstanding on his own in defence all day and some beautiful goals scrored by six different players at the other end.

Group matches vs Pilisvörösvár L. SE
drew 0-0
A very disiplined if defensive performance gave us a solid start to the day against a team who beat us 2-0 previously. Chances were hard to come by in a slow first half and in the second Ralph and Connor remained strong at the back, while Fulop nearly nicked a goal to give us the win. Spencer was great in midfield and all the boys fought brilliantly and set the tone for the matches to come.
  vs Tát SE
lost 0-2
Unfortunately an improved effort up front didn't quite produce a goal and a couple of minutes lacking concentration cost us at the back. Firstly Ralph was turned by his man and Connor was slow in covering, allowing the ball to reach the back post where the Tát striker slotted past Maik. Disappointingly, heads dropped and as a result a second was conceded shortly after to leave us trailing by two at the break. A stern talking-to seemed to do the trick as we piled on the pressure and Connor was twice denied by the keeper and Fulop also came close. That second goal would come back to haunt us as Pilisvörösvár lost 2-1 to Tat to put them through to the semis on goal difference and leave Buda Juniors in the play-off for 5th place.
5th/6th place play-off vs Esztergom SC
won 1-0
Fulop
Finally a goal and the win the boys deserved! Again a very tight game was scoreless at half-time. In the second half, with Martin driving the team on and putting in a great midfield performance, we managed to grab the only goal of the game. Ralph was strong, winning three tackles on the half-way line before playing the ball to Jacob who nicked it on to Fulop who made no mistake one on one with the keeper. The result at least can give the boys some confidence for the future and although we found goals hard to come by they should all be proud of the performance, with everyone showing fantastic spirit in every game.

Soma (2)
Started slowly and made lots of mistakes. For some reason our players looked like they were just not there. Soma scored two nice goals, but silly mistakes at the back led us to the draw.
  vs AS Római
lost 0-4
The same story again. Mistake after mistake during the whole match. Played this one without ever looking like getting into the match. So we ended up bottom of the group, leaving us to play for 5th place.
5th place play-off vs II.ker UFC
drew 2-2 (won 2-1 on pens)
Till, Alexander Hurley
We lost this one as well, with an unlucky own goal from Fabrizio. We finally managed to create a few chances, but without scoring the result couldn't be anything else.

Buda Juniors came sixth
This tournament showed it clearly that training sessions start to pay off at this age. Although we have some excellent players in this age group, you could see that a lack of communication and team play stopped the players becoming a team. We have players who come to Buda Juniors only once a week, which means that we train together (if everybody is there) as a team just a few times per month, which gives us a disadvantage against teams who are together regularly. Compare our players to the rest of the boys in this competition - everybody can see that they are at least as good as the others, but as a team it is something else.

We will work as hard as possible to try and bring the best out of the players under these circumstances, so that next time our players can have more success. This group of boys has already showed us that they can play very well and all of them are good little individuals, so we are sure that they can do much better than on  this particular match day.

1997 age group

Group matches vs Esztergom SC
won 2-1
Christian, Alexander Hurley
The previous matchday's final was decided by a last-gasp Hurley header and although the scoreline was the same the performance this time was much more convincing. A solid display at the back and goals from Christian and Hurley gave us a cushion without playing very fluid football. Although Esztergom pulled one back late on, the boys all battled extermely well to secure a win and set the tone for the matches to come.
  vs   Pilisszentiván SE
won 3-1
Till, Alexander Hurley (2)

The boys flew out of the traps and could have been 3 up as Till played A. Hurley in twice only to be denied by first the keeper and then the post. Till then worked his magic down the right and squared for Anton, but again the keeper pulled off a great save to keep the scores level. Not for long though as A. Hurley's throw found Till at the back post and he made no mistake with a side-footed volley. Soon after half-time the scores were level as a free-kick from the half-way line somehow evaded a crowd of bodies and flew past an unsighted Thorben into the corner.

A little bit of clever football changed the game as Jelle's throw found Anton's feet. He turned and switched the play to Till on the right who laid the ball perfectly into the onrushing A. Hurley's path. He composed himself before slipping the ball under the keeper and in. A. Hurley then added a third with a superb volley from Anton's corner to put a gloss on the scoreline. Again a deserved victory with very good spirit and battling, but being a little bit calmer in possession would have made the game much more comfortable.

  vs II.ker UFC
won 2-0
own goal, Till
Only a penalty shootout separated the sides last time and again this was a tight and cagey match with chances at a premium. The best opening of the first half fell to Anton but he elected to try a pass to Till instead of shooting and George read the danger to intercept. In the second half we were under the kosh with Kostya and Christian clearing well from corners and Barna and Jelle defending very well. However, our boys got their slice of luck as Till's throw-in wasn't claimed by the goalie and the ball came off an unfortunate George's head and in. Again, though, the Blues proved they are capable of much more, finding the killer goal with a great team move. Jelle found Anton on the left who fed A. Hurley just outside the box. His beautiful turn left the last defender but instead of shooting from a narrow angle he squared the ball back for Anton to finish... he didnt, as a combination of goalkeeper and last-ditch defending somehow blocked the ball, but it fell nicely for Till who made no mistake from close range to secure a very good victory.
  vs Pilisvörösvár L. SE
won 2-0
Kostya, Christian

What on paper should have been the easiest game of the day turned out to be a bit of a struggle as tiredness set in and the game never took off until the second half. A. Hingl provided the only magic in the opening 10 minutes, twice turning his man with moves of a young Ryan Giggs on the left but nobody made the effort to get on the end of his beautiful crosses.

The boys showed a litlle extra heart and passion after half-time to again come good for a perfect set of results.  Kostya showed what was needed to break the deadlock, surging into the middle for A. Hurley to pick out with a low driven cross. The finish was perfect as the ball flew in off the post and all of a sudden we were back to normal and playing with style and confidence. Christian then scored a fantastic indivdual goal, dancing past three defenders, cutting in from the right and finishing left-footed into the corner. A. Hingl and Till both came close to adding a third with long-range efforts. Anton then found A. Hingl, who unselfishly laid off to Kostya, but this time the ball cannoned off the post and out to leave the final score 2-0.

Buda Juniors won the tournament!
The attidude and work ethic from all the boys was first class, making every game a solid team performance. Defensively assured with Jelle, Barna andThorben in net only conceding 2 goals in four games. At the other end two memorable team goals and Christian's mazy dribble were some of the main highlights of a great day's football! :)

Group matches vs Pilisvörösvár L. SE
lost 0-2
Pilisvörösvár were the better team on the pitch, but our boys did their best. Two little mistakes in defence gave the match away.
  vs Esztergom SC
drew 1-1
Jacob
A good start to the game, with Jacob's goal and a few more chances in the first half. Unfortunately an own goal by Ralph in the second half meant that we didn't grab the deserved three points, so we had a penalty shootout (as both teams ended with 1 point). Thomas and Connor scored and Maik saved two, which meant that we qualified for the semi finals.
Semi-final vs Tabáni Spartacus
lost 0-2
An unlucky start with a little mistake from Maik. We had some chances, but today we couldn't score and a defensive mistake ended the match for us...
3rd/4th place play-off vs Esztergom SC
drew 1-1 (lost 1-2 on pens)
Alexander Hurley (2)
We met Pilisvörösvár again, and the result showed that we should have done better in the first match against them and the whole day. We should have won this match easily, but that little mistake again. This time we lost the penalty shootout.

Group matches vs Szent Pál AFC
won 2-0
Sam, Bence
A confident start to this match day. Some good saves from Viktor secured our victory.
  vs Pilisvörösvár L. SE
lost 0-2
A very tough match against the day's best team and all credit to the boys who managed the lowest score against this team all day. Two silly mistakes cost us a draw, with a lack of concentration from Viktor allowing the ball to squeeze through his hands for the first goal and the second coming from a throw-in across our own goal. A solid team performance with Charlie battling particularly well in midfield.
Semi-final vs II.ker UFC
lost 1-3
Matthew
A poor start and we were a goal down very quickly but then the boys came back strongly and played some of their best football of the day. Sam was superb on his own at the back, with Lewis and Bence combining well in midfield. Matthew equalised with a great turn and shot after Bence had helped on Viktor's long goal-kick. Unfortunately we were a goal down at the break as an out-of-position Charlie failed to clear and Viktor was helpless to stop a close-range shot. The second half was all huff and puff with chances very hard to come by especially with Joshua and Bence going alone when a pass to a free blue shirt was the better option. Right at the end we conceded a third from long range to give the score a slightly unfair reflection.
3rd/4th Play-off vs Esztergom SC
lost 0-1
A great performance but not quite the result we wanted. Playing a new system with Beer on his own in defence and Sam in midfield, the boys put on their best show of the day and quite possibly of the league overall. We were on top from the start without creating much going forward and the score remained 0-0 at half-time. Max and Luki showed Lewis and Joshua exactly what was needed with some great fighting in midfield and just when it seemed Bence or Matthew would break the deadlock, again a lack of concentration was punished at the back. From a corner our whole team was caught ball watching and a red shirt was left completely free to smash a shot over Viktor and in off the crossbar for the killer goal. A very positive if frustrating performance but again much learned for the next matchday.
Buda Juniors came fourth
Disappointing, but the boys are still in with a good chace of finishing third in the table...

Group matches vs Pilisszentiván SE
won 5-2
Anton (3), Alexander Hurley, Alexander Hingl
Started slowly and went a goal down early on. Only a change of system and the introduction of Anton brightened things up. Within seconds he had bundled the ball over the line after Till's shot squirmed from the keeper's grasp. His second moments later was a gem as he latched onto Alexander Hurley's through-ball and rounded the keeper before slotting home. After half-time we were much improved as we carved the opposition open with some flowing football. Anton was at the heart of everything, cleverly pulling the ball back for A. Hurley to smash home left-footed after his initial effort had come off the post. Anton grabbed his deserved hat-trick with a stunning left-foot volley after Nicholas had won the ball in midfield. Alexander Hingl then got in on the scoring, reacting first when Till's shot was parried. At the death we conceded a second as Thorben's double save wasn't enough to keep the ball out, but a very good start to the tournament.
  vs Tát SE
lost 2-4
Till, Alexander Hurley
Till's early goal as he cleverly rounded the keeper gave no indication of what was to come as our boys stopped playing and were punished severely. It was 1-1 at the break, but we were soon 3-1 down after both Barna and Christian conceded silly goals trying to dribble their way out from the back as the last defender. A. Hurley got one back with a long-range left-foot stike to the bottom corner, but seconds later Tát hit a fourth when given far too much space in midfield to smash the ball past an angry Thorben.
Semi-final vs II.ker UFC
drew 2-2 (won 2-1 on pens)
Till, Alexander Hurley
A great beginning and end to the game saw us squeeze through to the final on penalties. Started superbly, as Alex found A. Hurley on the left who beat two men before picking Till out in the middle to side foot expertly past the keeper. The second half was much slower and soon the scores were level. Moments later both Christian and Alex were beaten at least twice by the same man in the corner and as the ball arrived in the middle A. Hingl failed to clear and Thorben had no chance as the ball was fired into the top corner.

The boys managed to regain their composure and piled on the pressure. They were met by some stubborn defending, particularly by one of "their own" as George was playing excellently for his "other" team!!! Just like the younger group we managed to find an equaliser at the death as A. Hurley got his head to Till's throw-in and placed the ball into the far corner to send the tie to penalties. This time fortune was on our side. Despite George firing his opening penalty past Thorben, the Greens missed their next two and Till and A. Hurley finished expertly to send us into the final...
Final vs Esztergom SC
won 2-1
Alexander Hurley (2)
Esztergom had sailed though to the final and were a goal up nearly from the kick-off. Our boys didn't look on form and heads were beginning to drop when A. Hurley somehow poached an equaliser before half-time, getting his toe to a loose ball after a goalkeeping error. The second half was quite tight, but mainly with Buda Juniors pressuring. A. Hingl had a cracking volley fly just over, while Christian and Anton also went close. At the other end Alex was man-marking the big Esztergom striker and Barna sweeping up intelligently. Thorben dealt well with a couple of shots and Till almost grabbed the winner when Nicholas' pass found him in space, but the post came to Esztergom's rescue. However we weren't to be denied as again A. Hurley came up with the goods... This time it was Anton's clever quick throw-in which he headed into the far top corner to seal a deserved victory and spark celebrations both on the pitch and the sidelines where the parents had been kicking every ball all day!!!
Buda Juniors won the tournament!
One poor match but overall the boys showed great attitude and played fantastic football at times. Well done to everybody!

Bence
A very good start to the day in terms of everything but the result! Showed great attidude after going a goal down and deservedly equalised before half-time when Bence latched onto Beer's long through ball and smashed it past the keeper. In the second half we began to make silly mistakes from throw-ins and conceded a soft goal from a corner by ball watching instead of marking in the middle. We should have found an equaliser, but we were selfish in front of goal, trying to beat two or three defenders instead of passing to the free man... hopefully lessons learned for the next game.
  vs Szent Pál AFC
won 2-0
og, Joshua
We played worse but won!!! Started pretty well with a different formation and went a goal up when Joshua's cross was deflected past his own keeper by an unfortunate defender. The second half was awful, with Victor having to make numerous saves and Beer defending brilliantly at times against 3 or 4 of the opposition!!! Managed to grab a second goal when Luki battled through two tackles and Bence helped it on to Joshua who found the bottom corner with a good finish. Too many times we forgot to defend and were quite lucky with the scoreline.
Semi-final vs Pilisvörösvár L. SE
drew 3-3 (lost 0-2 on pens)
Bence (3)
The game of the day... We made a great start when Bence smashed home a long-range free-kick after Lewis was fouled. Pilisvörösvár drew level quickly when their striker got behind Beer and finished through Victor's legs. Helmer's throw then found Bence on the right who sent a looping shot into the far top corner to put us in front again, but a soft goal from a corner (again squirming through Victor's legs) made it 2-2 at the interval.

Although Victor was making some great stops, it just wasn't his day as a long-range shot came back off the post, hit his chest and went into the net! Full credit to our boys who never gave in and their fighting spirit was rewarded with virtually the last kick as Bence burst through and fired the ball under the keeper to send the game to penalties for a place in the final (and complete his hat-trick in the process). Unfortunately Bence smashed his effort off the post and Joshua's was well saved, sending us into the 3rd place match when perhaps we deserved a little more...
3rd/4th Play-off vs Esztergom SC
lost 1-2
Bence
Same opposition and same scoreline as our first match of the day. However, this was probably the worst performance of the day, although no doubt it would have been different if it was the final. 2 down at half-time and only another Bence free-kick salvaged some pride towards the end.
Buda Juniors came fourth
Overall a fun day and with more experience we're sure the boys will learn to play more as a team and less as individuals and hopefully cut out the silly mistakes. Special praise for Luki who, despite being the smallest in stature, led the way in terms of battling and fighting spirit.

Only 5 teams could come, so we played a round robin tournament

Round robin matches vs Tát SE
drew 1-1
Sam
Our team started the day really slowly. The teamplay wasn't as we imagined (and how they can play). Even so, Sam managed to score and we took the lead before half-time. In the second half we missed some chances and close to the end of the game Tát scored after some very poor defending from us.
  vs Szent Pál AFC
drew 1-1
Simon
The same score as the first match, but with a slightly better way of playing, although still not even close to what our players are really able to do. Simon scored a nice goal, but again in the second half we let our opponents equalise and we missed some great chances.
vs Pilisvörösvár L. SE
drew 0-0
Few chances for either side. The last 5 minutes of the game reminded us that there is hope for us...
vs Esztergom SC
won 4-3
Lars (3), Sebastian
We started the match (again) not too well, but thanks to two goals from Lars we got to half-time level. In the second half our team finally showed how they really can play and won the game.

Harry (2)
Happy to see that after the first few steps our little players were involved big time. Harry scored two goals, but unfortunately we let three in. There were little mistakes which can be eradicated with experience and work.
  vs Szent Pál AFC
won 2-0
Harry, Bence
Oh yes!!! Everybody on the field did well. The most important thing (very proud of this), everybody tried to do what we discussed before the game... Well done. So into the semi final...
Semi-final vs Nyergesújfalu
lost 1-3
Bence
We played one of the best teams in the semi-final. You could see that the other team had played more together, but our players did their very best. We will play this team again and hopefully can match them next time. Bence scored (in my eyes) the goal of the day. :))
3rd/4th Play-off vs Tát SE
lost 0-1
Here we go again... Tát beat us in the group stage. Some of our players were tired by now, but still went for it. Unfortunately that one-goal difference was still there.

Alexis
We started a little nervous, not surprising given that we had some players who had never played for us before. We had a good first half with a few chances in front of Tát's goal. In the second half Tát were more dangerous, but we defended well and managed to score to gain the victory.
  vs Szent Pál AFC
lost 0-4
Quite simply, Szent Pál AFC were the better team on the field. We could see that their players had played a lot together, while our team was too afraid and made some mistakes in defence which cost us the match. However, we ended up second in the group so got through to the semi-final...
Semi-final vs Tabáni Spartacus
lost 0-2
The same as the match against Tát, but two mistakes led to two goals and we had very little chance to score.
3rd/4th Play-off vs Esztergom SC
won 1-0
Alexis
A better performance - hopefully this is what we will see during the rest of the competition. Alexis scored again...

Group matches vs Pilisvörösvár L.SE

Lewis (2)
We started the match very well. Two goals from Lewis put us in front in the first half. In the second half our lack of experience let the other team score twice. Even so this was a very good very first match for our little players - the youngest team that has ever represented Buda Juniors in a competition!
  vs Szent Pál AFC
won 1-0
Bence
A good match. Building on their experiences in the first game all of our players played well. Good goalkeeping from Viktor and a very nice goal form Bence made us second in the group on goal difference, so we headed to the semi-final...
Semi-final vs II.ker UFC
drew 0-0 (won 2-0 on penalties)
Another good match. Both teams played well and missed some chances, meaning that penalties were required. Viktor saved two, while Bence and Lewis scored, which meant we were into the final...
3rd/4th Play-off vs Esztergom SC
lost 0-2
Our players played a good match, but the lack of experience proved costly again. It also didn't help that only 6 of our players turned up for the tournament, so by the final the team was a little bit tired. Beer scored an own goal, but he will soon learn how not to do that again and how to act next time in the same situation... We are very pleased with the little ones' performance!!! We hope they continue like this...
