Group 4 vs Pilisvorosvar
won 6-0
Anton (3), Till (2), Matthew

This was a fantastic opportunity for a lot of our players to play together on a bigger field after some good games indoors during the Winter Cup and they didn't disappoint! The first twenty minutes was some of the best football played by this age group as they steam-rolled their opponents with four cracking goals. Anton set up Till for the opener and he drilled the ball into the bottom corner. Roles were reversed for the second as Till looped the ball brilliantly over the defence for Anton to calmly control and slot past the keeper. Matthew showed some nice skill as he cut in from the left before squaring to Anton and again he laid the ball into Till's path and the result was the same... another rocket right into the corner!! The fourth goal again involved the dangerous duo, this time Till receiving a pass from Sam and turning the defender before sliding Anton through to toe poke past the onrushing keeper for another great goal. Before half-time three substitutes combined brilliantly for the fifth goal. Taylor's clearance found Adrian who got in front of his man and guided the ball down for Majlath. George spotted Matthew's run in from the left and lofted the ball into his path and the winger provided the perfect finish, just nicking the ball over the keeper and into the net. Four players, four touches and a wonderful goal! The second half never quite got up to the same level but we controlled the game and could have had a few more goals. As it was we had to settle for just one, when another great passing move saw Matthew find Till who jinked his way to the goal-line before crossing for Anton to finish for a great hat-trick (all assisted by Till!!!). Everyone deserves huge credit for how they played, but especially Alex who was a rock at the back and Glenn who made one incredible save in the second half. But the Man of the Match was certainly Simon who didn't put a foot wrong all game and was an unsung hero toiling away in the midfield, winning tackles and distributing the ball to perfection... well done Simon and well played to all 14 players for such a great performance.

Starting line-up: Glenn, Joao, Alex, Sam, G.Robson, Simon, Till, Matthew, Anton
Subs: Taylor, Christie, Norbi, Adrian, G. Majlath

2003s vs Hegyvidek
lost 0-6
2003s vs II Ker UFC
lost 1-8
Amir
2003s vs BVSC
won 4-0
Valdemar, Matyi (3)

After losing so heavily in the first two games the boys suddenly found some confidence and pressured the opposition from the start. Valdemar opened the scoring before Matyi rattled in a great hat-trick for a fantastic performance by the team.

2003s vs Ikarus
won 3-2
Matyi, Lorenco, Valdemar

Carrying on from where they left off and playing the best football of the day we found ourselves two up after 5 minutes. Valdemar set up Matyi to finish for the opener and the same two players combined with some great one-twos tearing the defence apart, allowing Lorenco to pop up and score the second. Matyi then handled to allow the Whites back into the game from a penalty and shortly after it was all square as Ikarus equalised from a corner. With only a couple of minutes left Valdemar justified his award as the Player Of the Team with a fantastic dribble and finish to secure victory and the third place cup!!!

Our boys battled brilliantly to finish in third place out of 5 and collect a very nice trophy for their efforts! Despite losing the first two games heavily to the top two teams, they fought back bravely to secure two well-earned victorys in the blazing sunshine on Saturday afternoon.

Squad: Siphesie, Amir, Matyi, Lorenco, Mark, Per, Valdemar

2001s vs Pilisvorosvar
won 11-8
Maxim (4), Arin (3), Emil (3), Ryoga

In a thrilling opening game of the day Buda Juniors came out on top winning by 11 goals to 8!! From 4-nil up the boys were never behind in the match but could never quite shake the reds off and from 5-2 at half time the goals really flowed in the second half. The reds managed to claw level with only 5 minutes left at 8-8 but Maxim rattled in the last three goals for a well deserved victory.

2002s vs Pilisvorosvar
won 15-7
Paolo (2), Nicklas (5), Harrison (5), Kristof, Liam, own goal

A comfortable win for the boys as they pounded the reds' goal from the first whistle. Nicklas and Harrison shared 10 goals between them and the closest the scoreline got was 9-6. Liam was tireless throughout and Mate and Kristof defended well in front of stand-in keeper Ryoga.

2003s vs Pilisvorosvar
won 13-8
Liad (6), Mark, Per (3), Amir, Mataya, Niels

Perhaps the best performance of all the games came from Liad as he rattled in 6 goals in an incredible first half. Beni was solid in defence and after the break Niels ran the show as Per added a hat-trick, giving us the biggest victory of the day!

1998s, 1999s, 2000s vs Pilisvorosvar
lost 2-11
Chris, Noah

A perfect start with Chris scoring a wonderful solo goal right from the kick-off gave no indication of what was to come as we were then outplayed for the rest of the game and somewhat embarrassed by the final result. In our defence it was a mixed team of three age groups who had never played together before but the older heads should have helped the less experienced players, with only Emily coming away with a decent performance.

1997 team vs MAC Nepstadion
won 8-6
Hingl (3), Matthew, Till, Christian, Robson, own goal

The 97s played a 75-minute game against our close rivals for the Winter Cup in the Korcsarnok on Sunday morning. It was a great chance to play an extended match against strong opposition and all the boys on show performed very well.

The game began in bizarre fashion as we managed to go a goal up without touching the ball, something I have never witnessed before! From the kick-off MAC knocked the ball around at the back before rolling it back to the keeper who took his eye off it at the vital moment and the ball rolled under his foot and into the net! Matthew and Hingl played a neat one two and after the keeper had made a hash of collecting the ball Matthew easily finished for the second goal in as many minutes. Within five minutes we were three up as Hingl grabbed his first of the day, winning a tackle and drilling home under the goalkeeper. The game never really let up in tempo with the action switching from one end to the other. Glenn looked very composed in goal but was beaten on 24 minutes as a loose ball in the middle was volleyed into the right top corner to pull a goal back for MAC. George M. produced a wonderful stepover to dummy his man but his shot was saved and Joao's follow up was somehow stopped on the line.

After the first brief interval Hingl made it 4-1, latching onto Joao's pass and smashing home off the post. Matthew then rattled the crossbar from distance as the boys really started to play some great football. Robson dribbled through on the left but his shot was saved, but soon it was five as George M. set Hingl free and he finished calmly for an excellent hat-trick! Simon and Till combined to set up Tom but his effort was saved before MAC got a couple of quick goals back. First Simon's block fell kindly for the striker to finish into the roof of the net and George M. was punished as he wasted a 2 v 1 situation and MAC broke quickly leaving Glenn with no chance. Till almost extended the lead again, but his shot cannoned off the post and clear leaving the score 5-3 at the second break.

The last 25 minutes were just as entertaining, even if both sides ran a little short of energy. Hingl hit the post twice in a minute, first from a free-kick and then from Matthew's clever pass. George M. then provided the killer pass for Till to finish first time to the far corner but immediately MAC hit back as Matthew lost the ball trying to dribble out of the back and the striker found the far corner with a low shot. Glenn then made his only error of the day, flapping at a cross from the right and leaving an easy tap in at the back post to pull MAC back to within a goal with 10 minutes to play. Christian calmed the nerves, however, latching onto a bouncing ball in the box and volleying home with his left foot. The Georges' then combined but Robson's shot was saved. However, he got the goal he deserved moments later as Hingl found him on the right and a good first touch drew the keeper before finishing bravely with his left foot to seal the match. MAC did manage a consolation in the dying seconds but the final score ended 8-6 to Buda Juniors, leaving the boys on the field and all the parents in the stands very pleased indeed!

Groups 5 & 6 vs Hegyvidék SE
won 8-0
Florian (2), Elliott, Oliver, Nick, Arnaud, Louis (2)

Our first match this year.

Soon after the kick-off we started better by possessing the ball, but also made lots of mistakes in our passing and some of the positioning just didn't work as we expected. Small mistakes in defence, but fortunately Hegyvidék could not get close enough to our goal. Playing forward also was not good, and so we could not get chances good enough to score. Louis was dangerous twice, but both times he missed the goal. After 20 minutes we looked better and settled finally at the back. Giving better support from the back, we started to take over the midfield. Even so, we had no real chance and the only time we could find our way to the net was after a corner kick. Máté put the ball perfectly and Florian headed the ball into the net. It could be argued that he pushed the keeper, but the referee allowed the goal and so we had a slender half-time lead.

In the second half we made some changes. We started much better and slowly took over the whole game, pressing on Hegyvidék. Hegyvidék could not break and so we started creating chances. One of these chances gave us the second goal. Arnaud received the ball in the penalty box. He passed the ball to Elliott beautifully and Elliott scored. Not long after our second Oliver's header meant 3-0 to us, when Florian's corner found him alone about 2 metres away from the goal and he didn't miss. Florian broke through Hegyvidék's defence, but missed from close range. Nick scored our 4th goal after Florian's assist. Guillame grabbed the ball about 20 metres from Hegyvidéks goal, then passed to Florian who gave an assist to Arnaud's goal for 5-0.

We kept pushing and even after 5-0 we didn't slow down. Hegyvidék from this part of the match had no intention to move forward, and it looked like they had given up! Elliott didn't and created a chance for Louis who scored his first, our 6th. Louis then scored his second and Florian's free-kick made the final result 8-0.

A good performance overall. We did what this match made us do, and used the advantage that our attitude provided us with. Only one team deserved to win and that was Buda Juniors today.

2002 age group vs Pilisvörösvár SE
won 10-5
Liam, Maxime (4), Yuta, Paolo, Shuhei, Imry (2)

Here we had another group of children who had never played a match under the Buda Juniors name. We organised a day (1,5 hours) with Pilisvörösvár SE to play a match. We all were as much excited as our 2002 children in the morning and it turned out a very good afternoon for Buda Juniors.

We started playing more accurately and scored our first goal. Liam finished brilliantly and made it 1-0 for us. Not long after, Maxime scored and we were 2-0 up. Pilisvörösvár scored after a small mistake in our defence, but Yuta came up with an answer immediately for 3-1. The goal of the day came next. Paolo dribbled through the defence, but instead of trying alone, he recognised that Maxime was beside him and passing to him would mean an open goal. Paolo passed to Maxime who scored our 4th goal. Pilisvörösvár passed the ball around very well and got close enough to our goal to score for 4-2.  Paolo and Maxime were in action again and in this order they scored our 5th and 6th. Quick answers from Pilisvörösvár twice and the result changed to 6-4. Maxime again from outside of the penalty area, Shuhei was next and so we were leading 8-2. Pilisvörösvár found the way to our net twice again to claw the score back to 8-4. Imry copied Vörösvár and scored a double for 10-4. Liam's own goal then gave Pilisvörösvár a goal and the score was complete.

Lots of goals in a very good match. Not just the fact that we could play and get some experience, but the way how our players played made us very, very happy!

Sunday 13th December 2009

Buda Juniors Group 6 vs Hegyvidék SE
drew 1-1
Imre

The last match of the year 2009.

It didn't really start in the Christmas spirit, with our boys really looking like they wanted to win today. We started the game better, and after 15 minutes we had possessed the ball much more than Hegyvidék. We had the first chance of the game. Florian's long pass after a free-kick was precisely put onto Imre's head who headed the ball across the goal to Máté who missed from about 1.5 metres away from the goal!!! We knocked the ball around well, trying to go behind Hegyvidék's defence on both wings, but the next chance in front of goal wasn't ours. Hegyvidék broke and, using the fact that our defenders were out of position, scored. We continued pushing, but some shots on goal and Máté's dangerous cross were the only positive things before half-time.

Changing our formation a little, we were aiming to win. The ball possession showed that we were controlling the game. Very good passing and more and more chances took us closer to the goal. Tamás' shot at the goal from 5 metres was denied by Hegyvidék's goalie. Nick's shot from just outside of the penalty box was not too difficult to handle by the keeper. Louis hit the keeper 2 metres (!) from the goal instead of placing the ball calmly into one of the corners of the net. Louis assisted Máté, but Máté's shot wasn't placed properly. Florian face to face with the goalie and… missed!!!! Chance after chance and the final whistle was not far away. We dominated the game completely - the possession was 75-25% to us by then. Into the last 10 minutes Louis missed one-on-one against the keeper, two dangerous corners… And one minutes before the end Imre finally scored. His well-placed shot brought us the 1-1 final result.

A good match overall as far as controlling the game is concerned, but we were terrible in front of the goal. The final passes and finishes just didn't happen how they should… Was Santa protecting Hegyvidék's goal….??

Saturday 12th December 2009 - Dorog Tournament for Group 5

Match 1 vs Pilisvörösvár SE
won 2-0
Louis, Ricsi

We started well as we grabbed the ball and hardly ever let go of it. The good passing turned into a goal as Louis placed our first, after Nick's assist. Right after the goal Nick missed one great chance and so the half-time score was 1-0 for us.

The second half started with a Pilisvörösvár chance, but Gabor saved us from the equaliser. Matei shot at the goal, Aron just missed the ball in front of the goal. Boaz's perfect long pass found Guillaume in a very good position in front of the goal, but his first touch on the ball put him out of position. Louise's chance was next and then Max shot at the goal. Chance after chance, and still no second goal. Ricsi thought he would change this, taking the ball from the halfway line and scoring.

Match 2 vs Lábatlan ESE
lost 1-2
Nick

We started where we left off the first match. Chance after chance. Nick and then Ricsi just could not finish properly, and as always happens Lábatlan scored after a defensive mistake. Probably Gábor could have saved it if he had stayed on his feet. Just after kick-off another mistake gave Lábatlan a 2-0 lead. Matei missed our last chance in the first half.

It was an unbelievable second half as we pushed Lábatlan to their goal for the whole period. Ricsi, Louis, Nick, Ricsi, Nick, Nick took it in turns to miss the best possible chances. Finally, Nick was able to score so it was 1-2 just a few minutes before the final whistle. Enough time to score, but we still kept on missing the goal and could not score another goal, even though we had another four chances!

Match 3 vs Diófa Tát
lost 0-5

This was the match that everybody just wants to forget. It started off with a terrible mistake by Aron that gave the lead to Tát within 20 seconds. The second goal came not long after this, as we were still in shock.  Boaz didn't learn from Aron's mistake and copied it and we were 3-0 down already. The team just collapsed and Gabor's (our goalie) unexplainable dribble in front of our goal put us 4-0 behind. Not much else happened before half-time, and to be honest Tát would not have been able to score if we had not assisted them so effectively.

In the second half we looked a bit more organised but it was obvious that we still were under the first half's pressure. Our team play wasn't half as good as the first two matches, and anther defensive mistake knocked us out.

Match 4 vs Diófa Tát
lost 0-1

There wasn't much hope for good team play, but we trusted the fact that our players wanted to show that the match against Tát was just a one-off, and we expected a win against the weakest looking team in the whole tournament. But it just didn't happen. We missed chances again and it was a great disappointment that we were not able to fight our way towards victory. A sleepy moment and Lábatlan scored the winning goal. We tried to come back into the game, but our effort was not really convincing and the whole tournament became a huge disappointment...
