2001 age group

vs II.ker UFC
won 3-2
Bence (2), Lewis Shaw

A terrible start as at the very beginning of the match we gave away a penalty. Our players looked like they were still asleep, as another defensive mistake set us 2-0 behind within 3 minutes. Fortunately we woke up. Bence started with a sharp shot but the II.ker goalie denied it. But Bence’s second shot could not be denied and put us back into the match. Lewis Whelan’s excellent save came next. Just before half-time Bence’s header equalised the game for us. In the second half II.ker started to press, but our defence with Jacob and Helmer stood solid, and when they were beaten, Lewis Whelan did great. Our team play improved a lot and so 2 minutes before the and after a great pass from Bence, Lewis Shaw scored the winner!!!

vs Tabáni Spartacus
won 2-0
Bence, Lewis Shaw
Being in the group with two tough teams, we knew that the second match wouldn’t be any easier than the first one was. It didn’t look like that at the start, however. Lewis Whelan showed that he was in top form. Our defence was busy and our first goal came from them. Helmer’s pass found Lewis Shaw alone in midfield. He noticed that Bence was making a perfect run and didn’t wait to give a beautifully designed pass to Bence who scored. The second half started well for us, but we missed two chances one after another that would have helped us kill off the game. Taban hit the post in the meantime. Lewis Shaw had a shot and just missed the goal. Not long after this Lewis Shaw was on song again. Bence returned the favour and gave Lewis Shaw an assist, Lewis spotting the low right corner and placing the ball brilliantly.
Semi-final vs Hegyvidék SE
won 3-1
Lewis Shaw, Bence (2)

Facing the strongest team of the whole tournament was the task. In our previous two meetings we couldn’t walk away with a win, so here was our chance to change "history". The match started how our previous meetings did, with Hegyvidék pushing and knocking the ball around really well. We were strong in defence, but could not really leave our own half until Lewis Whelan spotted that Lewis Shaw could get behind Hegyvidék’s defence. He hit a perfect long pass to him to head the ball over Hegyvidék’s goalie. This goal changed everything. All of our players worked hard and started to play more dangerously, with the result that Bence scored twice in quick succession to give us a 3-0 half-time lead. The second half started where the first finished, but this time we couldn't score. A little mistake at the back let Hegyvidék score, but it was us who found ourselves in the final of the Winter Cup’s last matchday...

Final vs Tabáni Spartacus
won 3-0
Bence (2), Lewis Shaw
Tabán showed that they are a good team by ending up in the final by beating Pilisvörösvár, another really strong team. Final or no final our boys looked really good. Confidence and workrate were high, the team functioned very well and it showed clearly. Bence’s cross was the first danger in front of Taban’s goal, but Lewis Shaw just missed. Bence hit the post and then Lewis Shaw did so. We were the more dangerous, but the goal was missing, so 0-0 was the half-time score. Right after the kick-off, however, the goal came when Bence smashed the ball under the crossbar. Lewis Shaw hit the post again. Then Jacob – who was playing in the centre of midfield, rather than in defence this time (and playing very well) – looked up and thought that Lewis Shaw's time had come. He passed the ball to Lewis perfectly, finding him in an great position and this time Lewis didn’t miss. The match was now ours, but Bence still managed to score and Arin just missed a great chance at the very end of the game. We won the matchday and ended up second in the whole competition.
All or our boys who played in the Winter Cup did an excellent job, showing that they can work hard individually and as a team too. And most importantly they improved a lot!!!

2001 age group

vs Tabáni Spartacus
won 1-0
Bence
We started better, even if our team seemed to be a little bit slower than usual. Bence should have scored twice in quick succession but missed both chances when 1 on 1 with the keeper. We kept going forward, but still got nothing. Lewis Shaw tried, but his shot was denied by Tabán’s keeper. Tabán of course wanted to grab the lead, but our two players at the back worked really well. Jacob and Helmer were as solid as a rock and Lewis Whelan in goal looked like he just wouldn’t give in. And so our goal started from the back as Helmer gave a great pass to Bence (over the defender’s head) and Bence chipped the ball over the keeper brilliantly. The remaining five minutes disappeared and we held on to win.
vs Solymár
won 3-1
Bence, Paolo (2)
We started where we left off - chances after chance, but we were not focusing enough. Luckily Solymár missed a chance from close range. Finally Bence managed to score and everything changed. We started pushing harder and the extra work paid off immediately. Paolo (our youngest player) stole the ball from Solymar’s defender and scored a great goal. Not long after that, Lewis Shaw’s ball came off the post and Paolo was the quickest to react to score his second and our third goal. It would have been nice to finish the game with a clean sheet, but a defensive mistake just before the final whistle let Solymar score.
Semi-final vs II.ker UFC
drew 1-1 (won 4-3 on penalties)
Paolo

Everybody thought before the match that playing II.ker UFC would produce an exciting and tough game. The expectations were right. There was some good football on both sides and chance after chance in front of both goals. II.ker grabbed the lead as we missed a ball at the back and Lewis Whelan had no chance to save. But we were not finished at all. Bence’s shot and then Paolo’s just went wide. Two minutes before the end we equalised - Paolo decided to take a shot and it deflected off a II. ker player and into the net, meaning that we would have penalties. II.ker went first and scored: 1-0. Matthew’s calm penalty: 1-1. II.ker didn’t miss: 2-1. Lewis Shaw’s turn and he scored confidently: 2-2. II. ker 3rd player scored too: 3-2. Bence equalised: 3-3. II.ker 4th player's shot was saved by Lewis Whelan. Jacob was next and if he scored we would be in the final and... he scored! 3-4.

Final vs Pomaz
lost 1-3
Lewis Shaw
Hegyvidék is the best team in the competition and so we needed to give all we had to try and win the Match Day. A good start from Hegyvidék found them in front of our goal and we needed some luck not to have the ball in our net right after the start. A quick answer from Paolo, but unfortunately he missed. Hegyvidék scored a goal, and to be honest they deserved it. Another two chances for Hegyvidék showed that they wanted more. Paolo's turn again, but he missed again, but Lewis Shaw didn’t, so we were level. However, Hegyvidék kept pushing and after a free-kick came a penalty for Hegyvidék, which they scored. We had to push forward, which meant we opened up at the back a little bit more and a Hegyvidék counter attack punished us and won the match for them.
We ended up second on this match day, but we couldn't complain. All of our players worked hard and played their best.

2000 age group

vs Pomaz
drew 1-1
Bence
The last day of the Winter Cup brought just a single point from four games to finish disappointingly at the bottom of the table. The first game against fellow struggglers Pomaz started quite well with Bence firing wide after a great pass from Matteo. Bence found the target from further out after 5 minutes, curling a free-kick beautifully into the top corner to open the scoring. Our defensive frailties were exposed soon after as a short corner caught everyone sleeping and the striker was left alone to tap in the cross at the back post. Leo was in great form and made two good saves to keep us level. At the other end Paolo and Matteo couldn't get the ball over the line after a frantic goalmouth scramble with four players on the ground in a moment more resembling a rugby match! Paolo hit a volley wide before Leo saved the day again in the final moments with a great double stop in a 1 v 1 with the Pomaz striker to leave the final result one a piece.
vs Nyergesujfalu
lost 0-1
Janos volunteered to be goalie for the second match to allow Leo some time outfield and both were stand out performers in a game we dominated but failed to score. Simeon was close early on as he outmuscled the defender and clashed with the keeper, but the loose ball rolled into the side netting. Some nice passing between Noah and Ryoga set up Simeon again but his shot was blocked. At the other end Janos did well to hold a deflected shot which almost got past him. The game never really took off and one goal was enough to decide it. Some sloppy defending again from our boys, as everyone was ball-watching and nobody closed down the Reds' midfielder and he lashed the ball home from 12 meters out. The comeback never materialised despite some good battling from Leo, Noah and Ryoga and the game finished with another defeat.
vs Nyergesujfalu
lost 0-3

Again the re-run against the Reds started out brightly enough, with both teams attacking from the off. Bence had his first shot saved before his second beat the keeper but rebounded clear off the post. Leo made a great close-range stop at the other end before Simeon could only direct his header at the keeper from a long throw. Bence dragged another effort wide before we went behind at a crucial time. Ryo couldn't quite stop his man down the right and as Leo narrowed the angles the shot somehow squeezed through his legs and over the line! Luck was certainly not on Leo's side as moments later Janos got in a great block only for the ball to bounce and spin back over Leo's head and into the empty net! The last goal came from a long ball which Matteo couldn't reach and the striker finished easily past Leo.

vs Pomaz
lost 1-2
Bence
The last game saw a huge improvement in effort from the boys but it wasn't to be their day as some inspired goalkeeping helped Pomaz to a narrow win. Bence opened the scoring after playing a great one-two with Paolo before finding the net from distance. A mix-up in defence allowed Pomaz the equaliser as Leo's clearance hit Janos and the loose ball was put in off the post, giving Matteo in goal no chance. The second goal summed up the boys' concentration on the day. Matteo saved well and sent a long ball into the opposition half as the boys dashed forward to support. However, the ball ran straight through to the Pomaz keeper who quickly sent the ball back over everyone's heads to the lone striker who controlled and finished into the roof of the net leaving Matteo wondering where his defence had gone... From then on it was all one-way traffic as we piled on the pressure with Bence and Simeon combining but the former not quite getting a shot off. Simeon then had his first of two great efforts saved with a good left-foot strike. The next move deserved a goal as Paolo found Noah, whose brilliant through pass sent Simeon in on goal. His first-time effort was superbly turned around the post and the keeper had time for one more stunning save to deny Bence and secure the victory for Pomaz.
All in all a disappointing day which could have produced more than a solitary point with some more concentration and better defending, but the boys showed in spells that they are capable of playing much better in the future.

1998 age group

vs Dorog B
won 2-0
Botond, Chris
The 98s showed just how much they've improved since the opening matchday with a fantastic final day showing. Emily, Ralph and Jasper led the  way in the opening minutes with some great football, with Jasper firing two efforts just wide. Jasper found Emily in the 6th minute and her clever through-ball gave Noah a sight at goal. The keeper came out to block the first effort but Botond followed up and hit a first-time shot over the keeper from distance to open the scoring! Marci was alert to block Dorog's only real chance as we continued to pressure at the other end. Chris' dummy and pass set up Thomas who controlled well before firing a shot that the keeper managed to parry clear. Chris then made the game safe, latching onto Ralph's ball over the top and shooting right-footed past the keeper with Thomas on hand to make sure the ball had crossed the line.
